The proposal

On a sun-kissed winter Delhi morning, friends and family gathered at a farm on the outskirts of the city.

As the guests mingled, sipping on their choice of beverage, a father and son were engrossed in a conversation at some distance.

“So you want me to meet the girl here? I didn’t know she was invited.”

“She is and she should be here any minute.”

A lady walked up to the two men; elegance flowing with her every step. A former army chopper pilot, she was now an instructor at the city’s flying club.

The two men greeted her in their own way. The son kissed her cheek, the father put an arm of warmth around her.

“My son here wants me to meet the girl he wants to marry,” he said. Then turning to the lady he said, “You know son, here is the perfect woman I know. If I was 20 years younger, I’d probably propose to her.” The lady smiled.

“I know dad, I would too. But I couldn’t wait to grow up another 20 years. She is the girl. And you think she’s perfect.”
