The plague

“The police took him away this morning. He was a brilliant student,” said the dean of his college.

“What happened?”

“He comes from a poor family; really poor. He was always a good student and his parents wanted him to study. He even made it to a medical college and his father took a loan. But the ragging was just too much. He ran away from college, did odd jobs to survive; he didn’t have the courage to go back home. Then he was asked to appear for someone else in the medical entrance test. The money was good; the person made it through.

“He had studied so well for it that he took a crack at the medical entrance test next year and he got through our college. Now three years later, they’ve unearthed an entrance exam scam and he is one of the accused.

“He wanted to treat people, but the plague got him.”
